Summary

“Beauty Comes at a Price” This is probably the toughest race that I have ever ran! 4,500’ of elevation gain straight up Mt. Mitchell for the most spectacular views before you begin the treacherous descent back to the finish. Great swag & after party

Quest for the Crest Review

Lots of communication however no discernment between the different race distances making it a bit confusing.
Easy directions- remote with limited GPS reception so plan ahead
Organized and easy packet pick up
Choice of 25k or 50K - the races are very different. I chose the 25K for one giant climb up and one giant descent with some bonus elevation right at the end!
Well marked trail race with all of the elevation, 4,500’ for the 25K and 12,000’ for the 50K! You are climbing Mount Mitchell- the highest point in all of NC. The decent was very technical. The majority of this race was not runable for me. I would say that this is probably the toughest course that I have experienced but the views are incredible!
“Beauty comes at a Price”
This is a very remote trail race and you are completely self supporting. No aid stations for the 25K. The weather was on the cooler side for NC in May so I was able to carry all of the water that I needed and a filtration bottle for emergency as well as the fuel that I needed.
Nice swag includes a SS tee with the option to upgrade to a tech tee or hoodie, trucker hat, stickers, and beer glass as well as a nice finisher’s medal.
Post race lunch and beer for all runners and plenty of space for spectators while waiting for friends to come in.
Overall awards for top 3 male and female
