Salomon Aero Blaze 3 Review (2025): Lightweight Daily Trainer Tested

Salomon isn’t just a trail brand anymore. With the Aero Blaze 3, they’re aiming squarely at the heart of daily training—pairing a supercritical TPU midsole (Energy Foam EVO) with a simple, breathable upper and Contagrip outsole to create a lightweight, do-it-all road shoe.

To see if it delivers beyond the spec sheet, The Up & Runners—our expert three-tester crew (Cody, Blake, Eric) put real miles on every shoe across easy days, long runs, workouts, and everything in between. Their consensus? The Aero Blaze 3 brings legit versatility and value, with enough pop to keep training fun.

Salomon Aero Blaze 3 At a Glance

  • Cody: 40+ miles across easy, steady, long (to ~15 mi), and speed; heat‑wave approved breathability; praises Energy Foam EVO’s balance.
  • Blake: 34 miles on road + some gravel; highlights versatility and value; finds lockdown great and true to size.
  • Eric: ~30 miles road + treadmill; values weight/price/versatility; notes roomier fit.

Salomon Aero Blaze 3 vs. Other Daily Trainers (Novablast, Rebel, etc.)

  • ASICS Novablast 5: Softer, bouncier, and more cushioned; Aero Blaze 3 is firmer, more grounded, and feels more stable.

  • Adidas Adizero Evo SL: Both are lightweight and versatile; Evo SL has more “supershoe” pop at uptempo, while Aero Blaze 3 shines from easy to medium efforts.

  • Salomon Aero Glide 3 (and GRVL variants): Share the same foam; Aero Glide 3 has more of it—better for long/easy days. Aero Blaze 3 is nimbler and picks up pace better; GRVL versions add trail‑ready outsoles if you venture off‑road more.

  • NB Rebel v5: Similar fun vibe; Aero Blaze 3 fits better (per Eric) but doesn’t bounce quite as much as the Rebel line.

This is nothing like the previous version of the Blaze — and thank goodness for that. The Aero Blaze 3 feels like a fresh start, with a ride that’s far more refined and versatile. While it shares some DNA with the Aero Glide, it’s definitely its own shoe. The Blaze 3 is a bit more stable, noticeably more nimble, and better at picking up the pace, making it a great option for varied daily training. The Glide, on the other hand, still takes the edge for longer runs thanks to its higher stack and more cushioned feel.

How the Salomon Aero Blaze 3 Performs on Roads and Daily Training

The Aero Blaze 3 adapts well across pace ranges. Testers used it for easy 8:30–9:00/mi cruising, steady 7:30–8:00/mi daily runs, mid‑distance long runs up to ~15 miles, and light workouts. It’s energetic and stable enough to pick up the tempo, with most of the speed coming from its low weight rather than plated “snap.” If you already own a plated workout shoe, this fits perfectly as the daily trainer around it; if you want one shoe to do everything, it holds up.

“It’s energetic, adaptable, and versatile enough to handle nearly any kind of run.” — Blake

“A surprise hit… a reliable, do‑it‑all option that’s enjoyable on easy cruises and mid‑week pushes.” — Cody

Eric McIntyre
The Aeroblaze 3 is one of the more versatile options on the market. When so many brands have gone higher stack and max cushion, even for their lightweight trainers, Salomon stayed true for the most part and gave a us a very nimble shoe. The shoe is soft and comfortable enough for daily miles and depending on preference even for recovery runs.

Fit and Upper Review: Lockdown, Breathability, and Comfort

A lightweight, breathable engineered mesh with adequate padding at the collar/tongue. Lockdown is generally solid and true to size for most. Eric wanted a gusseted tongue and noted a slightly roomier fit with some midfoot movement, while Cody—who has a slightly wide foot—found it accommodating without slop and praised breathability in hot, humid runs.

  • Cody: Accommodating for slightly wide feet; excellent airflow and no hot spots.
  • Eric: Comfortable mesh, wide‑foot friendly, but would prefer a gusseted tongue and tighter lockdown.
Blake Graf
The upper on the Aero Blaze 3 is a lightweight engineered mesh. It’s breathable and on the thinner side, but nothing super exotic. That being said, it’s been really comfortable across a variety of conditions, even on warmer days. There’s enough padding around the heel collar and tongue to be comfortable without feeling too plush or bulky. The fit overall was true to size. I had a thumbs width at the end, a great lockdown in the midfoot, and no rubbing or irritation anywhere.

Salomon Aero Blaze 3 Midsole: Energy Foam EVO Cushioning

Salomon’s Energy Foam EVO is the star. It rides softer and bouncy at easier paces, then firms up and feels more responsive as you move to the forefoot. There’s no plate—and it doesn’t need one for daily training versatility. Eric found it comfortable but slightly less springy than he expected compared to the Aero Glide 3; Blake and Cody highlighted the foam’s balance of cushion, pop, and stability.

  • Stack/Drop: 39 mm heel / 31 mm forefoot, 8 mm drop.
  • Feel: Cushioned yet lively; more “traditional daily trainer” than max‑stack pillow.
Cody Jett
At this point in the review, it might feel like I’m writing a love letter to Salomon’s Energy Foam Evo — and honestly, I kind of am. It’s easily my favorite part of the Aero Blaze 3 and a highlight in many of Salomon’s recent shoes. This foam delivers that rare trifecta of comfort, responsiveness, and stability. It absorbs impact beautifully on easy miles, yet has enough pop to make picking up the pace feel effortless.

Outsole Durability and Grip of the Salomon Aero Blaze 3

Contagrip rubber with perimeter coverage and a forefoot patch. Blake reported confident traction on wet/dry pavement and light gravel. Eric noted the compound felt harder and slipped on his treadmill—often a sign it may be less grippy when wet—though he didn’t have major slips outdoors. Cody called it a quiet performer: durable and confidence‑inspiring without calling attention to itself.

Blake Graf
I found that it gripped great on pavement, wet and dry, and even could handle some gravel as well. If you’re mostly staying on the roads but like to mix in the occasional crushed gravel path or hard-packed dirt, this version handles it just fine.

Who Should Buy the Salomon Aero Blaze 3?

If you want one shoe that can handle nearly everything—easy runs, steady daily miles, mid‑distance long runs, and occasional speed work—this is a compelling pick. Runners who prefer a more grounded, stable feel over ultra‑soft max stacks will appreciate it. Great for those who value versatility and durability at a fair price. Wide‑footed runners should try on for lockdown; most will be true to size.

“Those looking for an affordable, versatile model—potentially a one‑shoe rotation.” — Eric
A surprisingly strong entry in the daily trainer space… amazing value.” — Blake

Cody Jett
The Aero Blaze 3 is a great pick for runners who want a versatile daily trainer without the towering stack height found in many modern shoes. It’s ideal if you like one shoe that can handle a mix of easy miles, steady daily runs, mid-distance long runs, and the occasional speed session. If you value a balanced ride with comfort, responsiveness, and stability — all in a package that’s ready for a variety of paces and distances — this one should be on your shortlist.
