Salomon Salomon Aero Glide 3 Review

The Up & Runners

Posted May 28, 2025

The Salomon Aero Glide 3 is a max-cushion daily trainer best for easy miles, recovery runs, and long runs. Its EnergyFoam Evo midsole and grippy outsole shine, though the non-gusseted tongue and overbuilt overlays may bother some runners.

Salomon Salomon Aero Glide 3 Review

The Salomon Aero Glide 3 redefines what Salomon can do on the road, delivering a max-cushion daily trainer that’s soft, stable, and fun. With its EnergyFoam Evo midsole and reliable outsole, it’s built for runners who prioritize comfort across daily miles, recovery runs, and long efforts. Cody and Eric from The Up & Runners racked up over 50 miles on pavement and treadmills, putting the shoe through its paces with everything from chill jogs to tempo efforts. Spoiler: it’s a standout trainer that punches above its $160 price tag, but fit and design quirks keep it from perfection.

Salomon Aero Glide 3 At a Glance

How It Compares to Other Shoes

In the max-cushion daily trainer category, the Aero Glide 3 holds its own against top contenders.

Cody: It stacks up right next to the adidas Adizero Evo SL and the Mizuno Neo Zen. All three offer that premium foam feel and high-stack comfort without charging carbon-plated race shoe prices.

Eric: It reminds me of the Triumph 21 from a few years ago, The UA Infinite Elite has a similar feel as well. Bounce is reminiscent of a budget superblast.

Performance & Versatility

The Aero Glide 3 is a versatile workhorse that excels in daily mileage, recovery runs, and long efforts, with enough responsiveness for tempo runs. Its EnergyFoam Evo midsole offers a soft yet stable ride, making it ideal for runners who want comfort without sacrificing performance.

Cody Jett
(logged 34 miles): This shoe has earned a spot in my top 3 daily trainers of 2025 thanks to its smooth, reliable, and surprisingly fun ride. It handles daily mileage, easy and recovery runs, long efforts, and yes—even dog walks—with ease. It’s a true workhorse that doesn’t overpromise but absolutely overdelivers.

Eric (logged miles on road and treadmill): The Aeroglide 3 isn't necessarily supposed to be a fast shoe or built for speedwork but the shoe is such a pleasure to run in that you find yourself speeding up. It feels amazing at slower paces because the foam is soft yet supportive, meanwhile it provides enough bounce that if I wanted to hit some threshold or tempo I feel confident that I could. I think its sweet spot is going to be a long run or potentially a progression run.

Upper

The upper is comfortable and secure, with solid lockdown and decent breathability, but the non-gusseted, padded tongue and overbuilt overlays are drawbacks. The wide fit may not suit everyone, though it’s a boon for wider feet.

Cody: The upper really does its job well. Lockdown is solid—I never had any slipping or shifting mid-run. That said, I can’t help but think a gusseted tongue would’ve taken the fit to the next level. It’s breathable enough for now, but I’ll need a few steamy summer runs to really judge the ventilation. The tongue is... interesting. It’s super padded but not gusseted, which feels like a missed opportunity. I kept wishing they’d just copy the GRVL version’s tongue and call it a day. As it stands, it’s comfy but a little clunky. The overlays feel a bit overbuilt for a road shoe—like it’s ready to bushwhack through gravel instead of cruise pavement.

Eric: The upper fits a little wide which is maybe its only downside because otherwise it is super comfortable. The tongue is basically stitched in so you don’t have to worry about it shifting around and even with a wide fit I still felt locked in. The shoe strikes a good balance of comfort while also trying not to be too overbearing.

Midsole

The EnergyFoam Evo midsole (supercritical TPU) is the heart of the Aero Glide 3, delivering a soft, bouncy, and stable ride that shines across paces. It’s responsive enough for faster efforts but excels in comfort for daily and long runs.

Cody: The EnergyFoam Evo midsole hits that rare sweet spot—it's soft and smooth for cruising through easy miles, yet responsive enough to keep things lively when I pick up the pace. What really impressed me, though, is how stable it feels despite the high stack. It's the kind of foam that makes every run feel just a little better, and it’s easily one of the most enjoyable midsoles I’ve run in this year.

Eric McIntyre
The midsole is where the magic is. A beaded Supercritical TPU foam has been a favorite of mine for daily trainers for a while because it is soft without being overly squishy. In fact you have to put some force into the shoe to get it to really mush. With that feeling it also bounces back really well. It provides the energy return AND support that I feel is best for those daily miles even when the legs are a little beat up.

Outsole

The road-specific outsole, inspired by Salomon’s Contragrip trail technology, provides excellent traction on wet and dry surfaces. Thoughtful rubber placement ensures durability, though a midsole indent may catch small debris.

Cody: The outsole on the road version is surprisingly solid. I took these out for a rainy run and had zero issues with grip—no slipping, even on wet pavement. The rubber placement feels thoughtful and does its job well. One minor thing to flag: the midsole has a big indent, and I did manage to catch a small rock in there. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but worth mentioning if you’re running on debris-heavy paths.

Eric: The outsole is another part of this shoe that goes above and beyond. Salomon is better known for trail shoes where they use contragrip. In the Aeroglide they apply that to a road outsole and it is VERY grippy. This is one of the better outsoles overall for any road shoe period.

Who Should Buy the Salomon Aero Glide 3?

✔️Best For:

  • Runners seeking a max-cushion daily trainer for easy miles, recovery, and long runs (Cody)
  • Wide-footed runners or those who like a roomy fit (Eric)
  • Runners wanting a soft, bouncy ride with stability (both)
  • Those looking for premium performance at a budget-friendly $160 (Cody)

❌Not Ideal For:

  • Runners with narrow feet due to wide fit (Eric)
  • Those sensitive to non-gusseted tongues or overbuilt overlays (Cody)
  • Runners on debris-heavy paths due to midsole indent (Cody)

Final Verdict

Cody: Salomon absolutely nailed it with the Aero Glide 3. In a year full of strong daily trainers, I definitely didn’t have ‘Salomon makes one of the best’ on my 2025 bingo card—but here we are. It’s exciting to see them step up their road game in such a big way. If this is the direction they’re headed, I’m all in.

Eric: The Aeroglide 3 fits into that rare category of daily trainer where you honestly feel like you can do a little bit of everything. While its not going to be the fastest shoe in your rotation its such a joy to run in that you'll often find yourself speeding up just because of how comfy and bouncy it can be.
