Pointe Studio Socks Review

I'm one of those runners who thinks about socks just as much as I do shoes. While having the right pair of sneakers is absolutely essential for running with good form, I think socks can play a huge role. When they slide around in your sneakers, they can end up pulling against your toenails, causing bruising and lost toenails. It's not always that your shoes are too tight! I was sent a few pairs of socks from Pointe Studio from their Runners Collection and their Recovery Collection, and I love them.

Let's start with the Runners Collection. First of all, these are adorable, and some come with a smiley face on the toe. Look, I'm a sucker for things like this, and I'll take anything that makes me grin before I've had my coffee. They're really soft, but thick enough that I wasn't worried about my toes eventually going through the front of them.

I started out running a 20-miler in a pair, and assumed that if they were going to be an issue, it was going to happen here. I also thought it was worth seeing if they kept my feet from sliding forward in my socks to the point where my toenails became bruised. This has happened before, and friends, with my 24th marathon coming up, that isn't what you want. It may not be a big thing when you're doing shorter runs, but with longer ones, it's often an issue for me. Not only did my feet not slide at all, I didn't end up with marks on the bottom of my feet from the grips.

Great, I thought, but how are these going to hold up in the wash? I've tried grip socks before, and the grips often crack or fall off, or simply peel away from the fabric. These socks have now gone through a 22-mile run, several washings, and all the way into the taper. (Hell, I did extra laundry so I could keep wearing them.) They look the same as they did when I first got them.

The Recovery Collection socks (the longer ones in the pic above) were even more comfy. They don't press into swollen ankles after a long run, and they're not so tight that you can't wait to get them off. I wanted to wear them all day. They also kept me from sliding on my wood floors. With a puppy in the house that routinely steals socks, I'm guarding these with my life. If you haven't tried grip socks for running, you're missing out. I'm honestly thrilled with these!
