Once loaded and out on the run, the Pulse Belt really shines.
The belt slips on easily and stays in place without riding up or sliding down. I typically wear it just above my hips, where it sits snugly without feeling restrictive. The sizing felt intuitive. Since I typically wear XS or S running bottoms, I opted for the XS belt to keep the elastic from overstretching and reduce bounce. Runners planning to wear the belt higher on the waist may also benefit from sizing down.
Even when carrying a 500 mL flask, a phone, a layer, and gloves, the belt maintains impressive stability. Minimalist belts often lose structure over time and begin bouncing once loaded, but the Pulse Belt does a much better job staying secure.
Comfort is another highlight. I’ve experienced no rubbing or chafing, even on longer runs. The stretchy fabric breathes well, and although most of my testing occurred in cooler conditions, I didn’t notice any significant sweat buildup.
Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give the Salomon Pulse Belt is that I forget it’s there while running. Once positioned, it disappears into the background and simply does its job.
The belt is also surprisingly versatile. I’ve used it on trail runs, road runs, and even track workouts when I wanted to carry my phone for music. It works well for training runs and races alike, and it’s capable of handling common long-run needs like nutrition, a layer, and hydration.
