Summary

I was sent the Teva All Gender ApreTrail Slides gratis for review, and I'm now a Teva convert. I've tried a number of other recovery shoes, but the cushiness of these slides are second-to-none. I love the feel of these shoes and they're so light!

Teva All Gender ApreTrail Slides Review

I was sent a pair of Teva All Gender ApreTrail Slides gratis for review for the Long Beach Half-Marathon that I recently ran. I do my best to run like the floor is lava, but I do tend to land pretty hard. (I'm working on it!) That means my feet like to aggressively remind me of their existence when I'm trying to fall asleep at night. I've tried a number of recovery sandals like the Oofos recovery slides and the PR Soles. Both of them were comfortable, but the PR Soles' pokey texture on the sole was a bit off-putting in comparison. Neither of them gave me the cushion my poor, tired feet seem to crave.

One of the big issues I've had with recovery shoes in the past is that they tend to make my feet tired after walking for a bit. It seems counterintuitive, but I usually feel like I have to grip my feet more to keep the shoes on. I didn't have that issue at all with the Teva slides. They allowed me to use my natural gait and I didn't have the ache on the top of my foot that I usually get with this sort of shoe.

I did make the mistake of walking for several hours around Long Beach in them the first time I wore them. Since I've pretty much lived in sneakers and slippers for the entire year, I did get a bit of a hotspot from the edge of the top of the slide. However, I have never worn a slide, sandal, or thong that didn't do that the first time. I've worn the Tevas for long periods of time since then and it's never happened again. This is what I get for not following my own rules. They were just so comfortable that I didn't want to take them off.

These are still clothing of a sort, so I do want to go beyond performance. I love how these shoes look! The colorway, which is cherries jubilee, is fantastic (and tends to make me crave raspberry sorbet). They also come in birch, which is a sort of warm off-white, dark olive, which is actually a bit lighter than it sounds with a hint of gold, and black. I may get myself another pair so I can wear them with more things. (This year will be completed with five marathons, a 15K, and three half-marathons if I can keep myself from signing up for yet another race. I need them.)

I also love the fact that these are all gender, and that under each size listing they have both the men's and women's sizes next to each other so I don't have to go calculate the differences. I absolutely recommend these!
