Two run review of New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5

I always get nervous what a running shoe company makes an update to a shoe that works for me. I have had so many disappointments and remained hopeful that Nee Balance would not turn me off to the latest version of their FuelCell Rebel. Guess what, they didn’t. It was more like, they made me appreciate this shoe even more with the updates made with version 5. This is a great daily trainer. Good for short and long distance. 6mm drop. Same as version 4. But with the version 5 the stack changed to 35mm / 29mm versus 30mm / 2m in version 4. More foam provides a little more cushiony of a ride than version 4.  Improved tongue (aka it’s longer so when you tighten the laces, the tongue stays in place). Even without a carbon plate, it has good energy return. This shoe handles well when you add some speed into the run but is not, in my opinion, a speedwork or race day shoe. You will not be disappointed in this shoe. Great price. Great shoe!!
