This is a GREAT barefoot shoe for a reasonable price when found at a discount. I highly recommend these shoes for road or trail running if you're hoping for something that is light, easy to slip on, and gives you the barefoot feeling. Know that the rest of this review is very tailored to barefoot running. Barefoot running is not for everyone. It is also not something to start immediately. Barefoot shoes can get very expensive and can be difficult to find. They also vary by road and trail shoes, just like other trainers.
I love the material. It is stretchy yet sturdy. This holds up so much better than some of my other barefoot shoes. The materials is also surprisingly warm. I wore these recently for a nighttime run in 35 degrees and my toes were comfortable. Nothing felt cold, at risk of being uncomfortable, or needing to double layer socks.
I love that there is cushion and protection from the ground, as relative to it being a barefoot shoe. Compared to other barefoot running shoes, I feel comfortable running on concrete in these shoes. There is protection from rocks, glass, and other sharp materials.
Barefoot shoes are typically wide in the toe box. It is a common practice leaning into "natural" running. The Vapor Gloves could have a wider toe box. I went up a full size larger than my other trail shoes, which is not typical. I wanted the wider toe box and a larger size allowed that. Despite being a little big with extra room in the front, the laces tie super tight so nothing slides around.
I really enjoy barefoot running, but I won't run without shoes on. The flexible sole and lightweight material truly makes me feel barefoot while also protected.
