Summary

Comfortable fit - snug at the forefoot with a wide toe box. Unique Quicklace technology for easy fit and safety. Good grip, lightweight, and breathable. Nice color choices. Moderate cushion could be a little more for my liking.

Salomon Genesis Review

This past weekend I was given the opportunity to demo a pair of Salmon Genesis trail shoes during a 15K trail race. I typically rotate between 3 pair of shoes and am getting ready to retire one of those pair. Also, I have never owned a pair of Salomon’s and have heard good things so it made sense to try! I have a narrow foot with a high arch and the shoe fit differently than other trail shoes - snug around the forefoot with wider toe box. Very comfortable. The unique Quicklace is a plus. I decided at the start line that they were a little looser than I like and was able to adjust with just a quick pull and no worries about coming untied or having to try to tie muddy, wet laces with cold hands. The course was 2 loops of rolling hills through mud and standing water with one big uphill at the start and one big muddy slide-fest downhill at the end. I was pleased with the grip throughout the race. The shoes are lightweight and breathable and as a girl who doesn’t love pink and purple, I really like the yellow / black  color option. The only area that I would change is the cushion. I do wish it had a bit more cushion especially for any longer of a distance. I am planning to purchase these as my next trail shoe.
