So I picked these shoes up after another pair of Salomon's trail shoes had issues and they gave me a credit for another pair. https://www.weeviews.com/reviews/3022/ultra-glide-2
So far with around 30 miles run so far they have been a firm, but solid daily trainer in my rotation. They remind me a lot of the Asics Novablast 4, but definitely firmer, and with a better rocker and toe off. The high stack is balanced well with the rocker geometry Salomon uses on their newer shoes. And with most newer shoes by them the last is a little wider and made for more people's feet then older models which always ran on the narrow side.
Personally it is on the firm side compared to my other daily trainers, but not by much and the firmness helps with stability on longer runs when my form starts to falter.
My one worry is the tread has a small pebble pattern that is wearing down fast, but overall the rest of the year seems fine and has that great contra grip from their trail shoes moved and adjusted for pavement use.
You can see the wear in the pebble pattern here pretty easily. It is still up top, and where I don't strike as much, but by my mid foot it has already worn smooth at only 30 miles. Time will tell if it's just the little pebbles that wear so quickly or the whole tread.
