To give the best perspective, I compared the Asics Noosa Tri 15 with the Nike Pegasus 40. They are both popular shoes within the triathlete realm, but the Noosa Tri 15 is actually designed with triathletes in mind.
The tongue tab is made to improve transition speed, which is valuable for triathletes (especially those seeking the podium). The Noosa Tri 15 has a lot of spring on landing and you can feel the energy transfer as you push off. The shoes are extremely comfortable and my feet and calves felt great after varying distance runs (short and medium distance, as I am currently in the offseason). After the medium distance runs, the shoes helped with lessened muscle fatigue. Compared to the Pegasus 40, which I usually race long distances in Pegasus models, the Noosa Tri 15 has a lot more energy transfer and similar stability...although my legs felt much better after running in Noosa Tri 15's compared to the Pegasus 40s. Labeled as neutral shoes (similar to the Pegasus 40), the Noosa Tri 15 feels stable even when running at higher speeds on uneven roads.
I can see the appeal to triathletes with the technology, although my one beef at first was the crazy colorways (my mind has changed since). I usually tend to buy shoes with neutral colorways, but the Avant Garde colorway with these are inspired by Van Gogh paintings.
Overall, I think I found my newest favorite shoes for race day. These are comfortable and stable enough to provide a comfy ride through the long miles on tired legs.
