Summary

These midweight gloves are a good option for cooler weather, but you'll want something a warmer for freezing temps. The gloves are also magnetized, making it easy to store and keep track of them on the run if you get too warm.

Brooks Reflective Fusion Midweight Glove Review

The Brooks Reflective Fusion Midweight gloves are great for cool weather runs. I use them mostly in the 35-45 degree range. If you're on the upper temperature end, you might find that you only need them for a 5-10 minute warmup session. As you get closer to freezing temps, these really just aren't the right gloves.

There is a mesh vent on the palm that helps the glove breathe when needed. The fabric around the thumbs tends to let through a bit more cold air than I would prefer, even for a midweight glove.

Since you will most likely be wearing these in the Fall and Winter months, you will appreciate the reflective strip along the back of the glove. I usually wear a headlamp if it's too dark out; however, I occasionally encounter some low-traffic crossings, and they have helped drivers who might be coming from the side to see me more easily.

I have listed Tech Compatibility as both a pro and a con. It's nice to have tech padding on both the thumb and index finger, and it's great when it works; however, I've only had success about 75% of the time. I often end up giving up on whatever I was trying to do because it can become a distraction.

Another fun feature is that the gloves have magnetized cuffs. This helps keep them together if I want to shove them in a pocket or hang them over a strap on my hydration pack. When it's time to wash/dry them, double check your basin if you can't find one (or both). There's a good chance that the magnet has latched on to the metal!

The only real downside for me was that it was tough to get a great fit. I have relatively small hands. The Small was way to tight, and the Medium was a little loose. Understanding that this is the nature of semi-standard sizing, I'm ok with where I landed.

The other issue with the fit is that I feel the cuffs may be a bit too long. They extend well beyond my watch, so I have to fight with them a bit if I need to start/pause/stop a run. It's also possible that the sizing, particularly the loose fit around the fingertips, could have contributed to some of the issues I had with the tech padding.

If you're running in moderately cold temps, these gloves will probably be a great option for you. Just make sure you test a couple of sizes to get the best fit.

Reflective Strips

Reflective Strips

There is a silver reflective strip along the back of both gloves.

Magnetized Cuffs

Magnets

There is a small magnet on the palm side of the cuff. Great for keeping the gloves together if you decide to store them on your run.

Mesh Vents and Tech Padding

Palm side

The gloves have mesh vents on the palm, and tech pads on the thumb and index finger.

Fit Issues

Medium Size

While the Small was far too tight for me, the Medium ended up being loose in the finger tips. This may also have contributed to some of the issues I had with the tech padding. The cuffs are also very long, which made it difficult to view and use my watch.
