So I just passed around 70 miles in these shoes now and have mainly used them on my weekly long runs. The Rincon has that classic pop I like to keep me going even when I'm in the double digits on miles. The top of the shoe has nice breathability and sheds water quickly if they get damp. Laces lock tight and give me a secure fit in my high mileage runs.
The tongue is super thin, but that's what Hoka was going for when trying to make this shoe ultra light. I just prefer a bit more cushion.
My biggest issue is the durability of the soles of these shoes. At 70 miles I am seeing a lot of wear and I worry that the won't even make it to 300 miles. More on these last 2 issues in the subtopics.
As mention before the tongue is super minimal to save on weight, I just would prefer a bit of cushion, especially when I'm using these shoes on my long run days.
As you can see in the picks with just 70 miles on these shoes and part of the tread is almost already smooth. I feel the placement is fine, just maybe a different compound of rubber would help this shoe out a bunch. I'm a bit worried to see how these look by mile 200.
Abigail Lock The durability of the Rincon seems to be a tradeoff for the lower price and lighter weight compared to the Clifton. Nice review--good stuff to know, as I'm a Hoka fan and I was eyeing the Rincon for my next road shoe purchase.
