Summary

As my daughter says on the slide, Weeee! This shoe is just a pleasure. It makes me want to put on the miles, and not just mileage, but makes me want to go fast as well. Light weight and cushioned enough for most trails.

Terrex Speed Ultra
5.0/5
(1)
Pros
  • Boost foam at it's best
  • Snug fit for fast trails
  • Amazing grip for everything but deep mud
  • Laces lock tight
  • Makes you want to go fast, truly a speed shoe
Cons
  • Are form fitting, so if they are hard to get on, go up a size
  • Built for fast non muddy trails, if you like sloppy trails not a good shoe
  • Could be narrow for some.

Adidas Terrex Speed Ultra Review

I love these trail shoes. They are my go to for every type of trail run except for really muddy days and kinda ironically really long "ultra" mile days. Basically if I am doing anything marathon or below and it's not snowy or just pouring down rain. These are my shoes. The Boost foam is firm enough to handle roots and rocks, and the energy return keeps my legs fresh. I enjoys these so much I bought a second pair just so I have another when I wear these ones out. I personally like the feel of how snug my foot is in them. Makes me feel secure on rougher trails, because my heel and foot are locked in. This could be off putting for some. The material is a hardish synthetic that breathes really well and drys out fast which is great for when you are running and have creek crossings. Adidas is more style with their Terrex branded stuff, but not with these. Yeah they look slick, but they hit a home run with this shoe. If you want a daily that can handle speed, tempo and most trails this is the shoe. Biggest gripe is getting into the shoe. It's so form fitting it can be tough to put on, but once it's on its basically an extension of my foot.

Continental Tread

I had to add a subtopic on this Continental tread. The lugs are short, so I was expecting slippage on any rocky or more technical trails, but I was so wrong. It's like how a geckos hands work, but in shoe tread form. These shoe are som of the grippiest rubber I've ever run in. Don't let the low profile fool you, these shoes can handle anything but deep mud. Rocks, roots, scree, You can cruise on this tread.
