This is my second pair of Nike shoes in the Invincible family. These replace my Nike Zoom X Invincible 1 running shoes that I have over 450 miles in so far. The Zoom X Invincible 2 shoes don't appear to be any different than the previous model other than some cosmetic design elements. I have to say I was expecting a little more difference between them as they are extremely similar other than the colors.
The Zoom X Invincible 2 running shoes are just like the previous model in that they provide an extremely cushioned running platform that absorbs all impact with little to no energy return making them comfortable but very slow and unresponsive.
Like the previous model they look huge on your feet even though they are relatively light for a trainer. They are much wider than typical Nike running shoes which gives them a lot of stability but also makes them feel unresponsive.
I like these shoes for recovery runs and slow runs. If you are looking for an all around trainer to be your training / racing shoe this probably isn't it. For me the narrowness of most Nike running shoes works well for the shape of my feet. The unusually wide toe box of these shoes becomes a problem for me if I try to run at a faster pace or for really long runs because my foot moves too much in the wide toe box and blisters quickly start to appear.
If you have impact related running injuries and aren't looking to go fast these shoes might be a great option for you. Come race day maybe go with a Pegasus, Zoom Fly, Vaper Fly, or Alpha Fly which will all be much faster and more responsive.
I will be anxious to try the Zoom X Invincible 3 when it is time to retire my Zoom X Invincible 2 Running shoes as the newest model is completely redesigned with a less bulky look and updated technology.
