I bought these for smooth trails and dirt roads so that I can save my favorite trail shoe, the La Sportiva Lycan, for more technical terrain and ultimately get more miles out of them.
The Pegasus performs well on dirt roads, rail trail and smooth single track, and I like wearing these for mixed-terrain runs where I'm running from my dirt road to single track to pavement and so forth. Their versatility reins supreme, and when there's snow on the ground with possible ice, the moderate traction is just enough without overdoing it.
I was fitted for the Nike Zoom in 2015 and figured I'd fit into these without a problem so ordered them online and was happy with my first run. There was no break-in period, no stiffness and just enough support.
For reference, I have a narrow heel and foot, high arch, wear size 7.5 or 39, and like to spread and wiggle my toes in my shoes.
So far they probably only have about 100 miles logged on them (as of Jan. 25, 2023) and are holding up nicely with no holes or tears and no breakdown in foam, which I've experienced with other brands.
I gave them four out of five stars because I wish the design was a little more streamlined in regard to the foam that flares out at the heel of the shoe.
This is my first pair of Pegasus Trail and will likely purchase future models.
