The Bondi 7 is the newest model for Hokas comfort model. It is meant for long runs and lots of miles. When running on roads it feels like you are running on soft grass. With a stack height of 28mm there is plenty of foam to keep you from feeling all the impact from the ground. With a heel to toe drop of only 5mm, it is a nice bridge between typical running shoes and the zero drop models.
There is a decent portion of the bottom of the shoe that has rubber while the center is composed of their foam only making this a heel strikers advantage. With a rocker bottom it helps propel the foot forward making running easier.
I use these for my long easy runs and recovery days. They are perfect for this purpose but would not be my 5k speed shoes. While it is possible and not to difficult to generate a nice tempo, this is not a shoe to sprint in. Great for triathlons after getting off the bike and getting into the running groove.
David Moore Great feedback Michael! I have always ran Brooks Ghost on the road and am looking for the right pair of Hoka's to rotate in for long run marathon training. And I heel strike. It looks like the Bondi might be a good fit. Cheers!
Michael Cavanah Yeah David I used to wear the ghost as well. I switched to the bondis and have never looked back. I like that the hokas are a lower heel toe drop so it promotes lengthening of the Achilles’ tendon. Highly recommend them.
