Summary

Fun race with some live music & entertainment on course. The course doesn’t go through the heart of the city but instead along Lake Pontchartrain. 19 corrals in total, so expect a lot of people! Would have like more music on the course.

Pros
  • Cool destination race
  • Mardi Gras culture on course
Cons
  • Not enough music on course for a Rock ‘n’ Roll race
  • Aid stations weren’t strategically organized with handing out hydration

Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, New Orleans

It was an easy race to get to, being in the outskirts of town starting at the University of New Orleans. The course itself had a lot of small bridges and sharp turns. There were a few small bands and floats on the course and a small band and stage at the finish line.

Experience

Was disappointed that there wasn’t more music on the course, being advertised as so. The course itself was a little scenic with Lake Pontchartrain in view for a majority of the miles. With 19 corals, the hardest part to navigate were hydration stations. I brought my own hydration and nutrition, but since they had hydration on both side of the road, runners were stopping all over the place… and those trying to run through had a difficult time.
