This is a snappy underfoot feel, but a different snappy compared to the Xtep 2000KM 5. While the Xtep is more like a spring, the Red Hare Pro is more like a bungee. One is more direct while the other is a little more deliberate. Both are quick and responsive underfoot, but the sensation for me is a little different. I don't think I even have a preference, I just know that while they are similar, they also provide a different sensation.
The shoe overall is very smooth underfoot. It has a gentle rocker that is more of a traditional set up which is geared towards those workhorse miles. The shoe expects you to put energy and effort into it, but it works with you in that effort and rewards the energy.
The midsole in this, much like the Xtep 2000KM 5, is just the type of set up I would lean towards for my grinder miles, my daily trainer type of miles if I was in consumer mode. It is versatile in it's usage from a effort standpoint (can do easy pace to up tempo, track workouts), can be used for walking and around town type of activities and can also do long run day efforts. It is a shoe that can do 75% of what you need from a mileage standpoint and the midsole is going to be durable.
It is not a shoe that will provide a lot of assistance in return, but that is not the purpose of this shoe, it is a shoe that will work with you, protect you and is light on the feet so you can forget about the shoe and just run! It is a shoe meant for training the legs so that when you step into a run assisted type of shoe, your performance is that much better.
I got most of these miles using these shoes solely, so they have been my main shoe without intermixing other shoes in. The midsole has shown no signs of "wearing" out with daily use or needing a recovery day to get the best out of it.
