Summary

A sock for runners, designed by runners! Minus33 did a great job incorporating runner feedback into this design. Moisture-wicking, form-fitted, and seriously comfortable, these Merino wool socks are one of my new favorite winter pieces.

Minus33 Heritage Elite WeeRun Socks Review

As one of the testers in the design process, I am so excited that Minus33 took our feedback and ran with it. The final product (Mountain Heritage Elite Full Cushion Trail Running Ankle Socks) is cushioned in all of the right places and stays put during activity. Although I'm partial to crew sock designs, this lower cut sock doesn't slide down into my shoe or bunch in the toes. This pair of socks is one of my new favorite winter running staples.

The Fit: Minus33's sizing chart accurately reflects the sizing of the sock. I usually wear a size 8-9 in trail shoes, depending on the brand, so I ordered a medium in Minus33's socks, and they fit perfectly! The elastic in the midfoot secures the sock material close to the foot and prevents extra friction that can contribute to blisters. The sock's collar is designed similarly to prevent slippage.

Cushioning: I tend to purchase socks that have very little cushioning, so the Minus33 sock is outside of my normal preferences. However, I've found them to be quite comfortable. The toe and heel of the sock have plush cushioning while the venting on the top of the sock prevents it from becoming too hot.

Material: Although Merino wool is the perfect performance fabric for trail runners since it is moisture-wicking and quick drying, wool alone doesn't always feel/fit like an athletic material. Minus33 created these socks with a blend of Merino wool, stretch nylon, and spandex to give runners the best of both worlds.

Durability: although Merino wool is known for being a finicky natural material that doesn't like being washed/dried, these socks aren't showing signs of wear or pilling despite multiple rounds in the washer and dryer.

You'd be surprised how comfortable Merino wool actually is--no, it's not like that itchy sweater that your grandparent gave you for Christmas.
