South Texas Ultra by Texas Outlaw Running Review

Second run with this running company.  They are a newer trail running company with a lot of available runs which are located all over the state and even into Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas.  Second in their Texas Ultra Series.

My gear:
Mission running hat
Craft Running shirt
Craft Running shorts
Feetures crew socks
Nike Zegama 2 shoes (See my review here: https://www.weeviews.com/reviews/3753/zegama-2)
Coros Pace 2 watch
Squirrel's nut butter

Check in / Packet pick up

Shirt / Medal

Only a morning of the run packet pick up / check in.  It was very efficient and well run, but I like a day before option just to remove things to think of the morning of.

Support

The start finish had a very well stocked support system and great people running it. There was an unmanned hydration station at mile 4.8ish, which you also hit around mile 8.  So well stocked to maintain hydration without having to wear a full vest

Course

Course Overview

- Surface: Rugged rocky terrain with some dirt and grass ATV trails
- Course: H.W. Lewis Ranch Trails
- Elevation: Lots of ups and downs climbing with three big climbs showing 750ft every 10.35M loop.
The 7th mile of each 10.35 mile loop has a steep and steady incline and decline.  It really tested the legs of this flatlander, especially on the third loop

Course pictures

Really enjoyed the course.  First loop was in the dark with headlamps and we had a small pack of small Wild Hogs run through our grouping, which woke us up pretty quick.

Finish / final thoughts

First in age group!!
Second medal in 5 medal series

Was able to finish first in age group, 14th overall.  Was very happy with my day
