Those who put on this race knew what they were doing! It was one of my favorite races I have ever done mainly because the staff and volunteers were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly AND the trail was so well kept and well marked. I have run other trail races that were not well marked, and it was so easy to get lost. This one I always knew exactly where to turn. Also, the post race food was AMAZING. There was barbecue, all kinds of fruit, granola bars, and other snacks. I do wish there was chocolate milk because that is my biggest craving at the end of a race!
This course was a 6.5 mile loop. So, for the full, you loop four times; two loops for the half; and one loop for the quarter. I was nervous to run a multi-loop race because I thought it would be more challenging mentally. But it was actually easier mentally!
As with most trail races, there were some sections that were very narrow and challenging to pass others. So, the race crew highly discouraged runners from using headphones in order to be more aware of others needing to pass. I only had one issue passing someone (because she was wearing headphones). They race crew also started the races in waves so running would be more staggered and not congested.
I wish they could have put a little more creativity in the medals. I am not against a wooden medal, but I wish it would have at least included the year on it. (So, I wrote the year on the back of mine in sharpie.)
