Minus33 Micro Weight Women's Woolverino Bikini Briefs Review

If you're in the market for some new performance underwear, consider checking out the Minus33 Woolverino line designed specifically for running and biking. While I usually opt for underwear with less coverage, these bikini briefs really surprised me with how comfortable and moisture-wicking they are.

Before I jump into the details, here are the important features:

  • 1-inch woven sport elastic waistband
  • High cut leg opening
  • 84% Merino Wool, 12% Nylon, 4% Spandex

The Fit

I usually wear an XS and this bikini brief ran true to size.

I appreciate the thoughtful design in the waistband, as it feels like it's keeping the briefs in place throughout the course of 60+ minute activities.

I've washed these a few times and they show no signs of wear or unwanted stretch. Although I typically opt for thong style underwear with less coverage, the bikini brief doesn't restrict movement since the leg openings are high-cut in the front.

My only qualm with the fit of these briefs are the visible seams. With a fitted pair of leggings, you can clearly see the seams of these briefs. If Minus33 brought a performance thong to their Woolverino line, I'd be one of their first customers!

The Material

After running with these bikini briefs in various weather conditions, I can conclusively say they are my favorite underwear with respect to keeping moisture at bay.

After a recent 80 minute trail run in heavy snow and rain for the first 50 minutes (34 degrees Fahrenheit with wind chill that made it feel like 27 degrees), I was expecting to arrive back at the car thoroughly chilled and soaked to the bone. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the briefs were nearly dry after running for the last 30 minutes without precipitation.

Laundering

Since these briefs are 84% Merino wool, they require special laundering to preserve the natural fibers. While they are machine wash/dry, you can't use harsh detergents or softeners on them. Minus33 suggests a mild or wool-specific detergent to properly care for the material.
