Precision Fuel and Hydration PF 30 Gel Review

I started using Precision Fuel and Hydration PF 30 gels over the past few months and I am hooked! The folks at Precision really nailed the texture and flavor of these gels. The neutral, mildly sweet flavor paired with a smooth texture makes for an enjoyable experience--not always something you can say about high-carb gels.

The only potential qualm one might have with the PF30 is that there is no sodium in the gels. All electrolytes will have to come from another source.

If you're looking for a no-frills gel for workouts or higher intensity events, I suggest checking out Precision Fuel and Hydration! They also sell caffeinated (100mg) PF30 gels and 90g carb pouches for high-carb fueling.

Packaging

Each pouch weighs 51g and fits easily in any pocket. Each package is designed to open easily (no searching for the perforation) and without a fuss. As a trail runner, I'm always worried about unintentionally leaving micro-trash on the trails when I take gels that have full perforations that make the top part of the packaging fully detach from the bottom. Precision thought of this!

Texture and Flavor

Texture: Compared to the Maurten hydrogels, I really appreciate that Precision's texture is more flowy, yet it doesn't stick to your teeth or make you feel like you're suffocating while you struggle to choke down some liquids. I can't stand gels that make me want to brush my teeth after a couple packages, so these PF30 gels are a welcome respite from highly flavored, sticky, sugary gels.

Flavor: If I'm being honest, I can't compare the flavor to anything I've tasted. It's somewhat similar to Maurten hydrogel, but there's no aftertaste. I've also noticed that I don't have the immediate urge to chug water after taking in a PF30--I can't say the same for the Maurten hydrogel.
