Summary

This race was challenging & rewarding. The course was tough, but the views were pretty dang great! It's perfect if you run to enjoy nature, not crowds. The organizers set this up for a seamless experience - from shuttles to ferry to everything else!

Grand Island Trail Marathon Review

This was my first 50k. The race was set up so well. You have to shuttle and ferry to the island, but the organizers made this process seamless. The community was amazing. All of the runners supported each other. The views were incredible! You run alongside several cliffs that overlook Lake Superior, and it is just stunning. Also, the air is so fresh. One con is the limited bathrooms. Of course, you are in the woods and can essentially find a bathroom anywhere. But if you want a toilet, there is a stretch for about 15 miles where you don't have one. This race also has a pretty early start (6am), but a lot of races start this early. It's just a really early morning with shuttling and ferrying over. Overall, this course was rad and the organizers were awesome. I highly recommend it.
