This wàs my 2nd year running the Honey hole 13.1/10K/5K
Last year race was well run, packet pick up was held the day before or morning of race with no issues Parking was well managed. No issues what so ever. The only draw back was the race is held on an road that was not closed to traffic. Very dangerous.
Fast forward to this year
There was mass confusion when I arrived. Packet pick up was supposed to start at 6AM for those runners who didn't get there bibs the day before.
They race committee was not prepared. It was almost 6:30 AM before they started handing out the bibs.
The parking was a total disaster. They couldn't accommodate the amount of runners that were there to park. There were over 250 runners and the parking was a free for all. There was no one there controlling who can park in the lot. Cars were double parking . So if you needed to leave after your race you were stuck and could not leave. Than the 13.1 was supposed to start at 7am , it was delayed due to the late start of the packet pick up.
So this delayed the 10K. The 10K/5K was supposed to start at 7:30 that was also delayed because the race director said he would wait until the people who were in line for the porta potty were done! So the 10K /5K didn't start until 7:45 am
Once the race dis finally start we were off to run a lot of hills. It's a challenging race especially if you love hills. The road we ran on was all paved however it was not blocked or patrolled by the police so cars were going up and down the road as we were running and I did notice a lot of people were on there phones.
There were 2 water stations
When we crossed the finish line it was better organized. However they did miss an entire AG for the woman when they were doing the awards. They started the awards at 8:30 am. People were still running.
The winery that held the event is fantastic. And their wine slushies are a big hit. I had strawberry . So would I do this race again next year ?? Probably not
