Summary

Solid transition shoe. Has nice cushioning for the road miles, and enough grip underneath to handle light trails without worrying about slipping on pavement.

Salomon Hypulse Review

So I have just recently moved to Seattle and this city is full of random trails and parks littered throughout. I was looking for shoe that could transition well from road miles to lighter trails and gravel roads. This shoe has fit the bill nicely. The foam and poppy response on the mid foot has worked well on my runs with it so far. Not the softest shoe, but I'm not ever using it for big mileage. The grip is aggressive for a road shoe, but is great for when I start on pavement then pop into a park or road side trail for some of my miles. I don't have to worry about grip in the rainy NW with these shoes for what I am using them for. It's a great shoe to bust out when I want to mix up my road run and add some trails without sacrificing grip. My one real issue is the tongue. I prefer a little more padding, and it tends to slip on me a bit. Other then that it is a pretty solid shoe. I plan to use it on some old logging roads as well where I don't need a super aggressive lug and it will help me save my other trail shoes for more mountainy/muddy trails where I need that aggressive grip.

Shoe bottom

Enough grip to handle light trails, but mild enough for the streets as well.
