As your exercise intensifies, you start to produce more sweat, which the shirt will then react with. Got this singlet to wear while racing and happy so far. Used in a 5k, HM, and FM. Super lightweight. It almost feels like nothing. Doesn't get wet. Comfortable while running. Got a large, and it's a little loose. Might have been better with a medium.
