Get Moving with the Happy Taylor-Swift Trail-Running Playlist

The world went wild when Taylor Swift revealed her training for the 66-show, history-making Eras Tour last year.
.
🎸In early December 2023, Swift’s Eras Tour training was the most prominent headline in all the popular media outlets, including:

  • The New York Times
  • Women’s Health Magazine
  • Today, and even...
  • Runner’s World

🎤Swift, the 2023 Time Magazine Person of the Year, shared how she sang the three hour and 15 minute, 44-song setlist out loud while running on the treadmill every day for six months prior to the tour.

  • In addition to running what has been estimated at 12 to 16 miles per day, she did strength, conditioning and dance training.
  • Swift’s intense physical training awed and inspired millions.
  • Thus, the Taylor Swift Treadmill Challenge was born.

🏃‍♀️‍➡️How about a Taylor-Swift playlist for trail running to help you get moving, give you a boost of energy and a lot of happiness?

The Taylor-Swift Treadmill Challenge inspired the author to create a playlist for trail running.

The evolution of the Taylor-Swift Treadmill Challenge

Writers, Swifties, runners, influencers and media specialists alike took on the challenge, posting and writing about their failed and successful attempts while performing various iterations of the challenge including:

  • Half-hour workouts to shortened Eras Tour playlists
  • Running while just listening (not singing) to the setlist
  • Walking to the setlist
  • And replicating it as exactly as possible like “Your Diet Sucks” and “The Trailhead” podcast host, Trail Runner magazine Editor-in-Chief, author, comedian and 2024 Leadville 100 Second-place Female Zoe Rom

😲Read Rom’s recap here:  “I’m an Ultrarunner. Taylor Swift’s Treadmill Workout Wrecked Me."

  • Obviously musicians train to put on back-to-back concerts that last months at a time, but I hadn’t really thought about it until Taylor Swift put it out there.
The author listened to Taylor Swift songs for weeks to compile the perfect playlist for trail running and mountain biking.

Listen...to create a trail-running playlist experience

🔊Instead of taking on the challenge, I listened to the Eras Tour setlist all day every day for a few weeks while:

  • Working from home
  • Driving
  • And running, attempting to sing a lyric or two between breaths.

🎧Then I listened to her 10 main albums, Taylor’s Version where applicable, in order of release (The Tortured Poets Department wasn’t released yet):

  • Taylor Swift
  • Fearless
  • Speak Now
  • Red
  • 1989
  • Reputation
  • Lover
  • Folklore
  • Evermore
  • Midnights

🛜Next, I watched the Eras Tour on DisneyPlus.
.
🏃‍♀️‍➡️During that time, I listened to a few Taylor Swift running playlists on Spotify while trail running and mountain biking.
.
💿In the meantime, her two-disc album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released on April 19, 2024.
.
♾️Of course, I played it on an endless loop for a couple weeks.

Check out the Taylor-Swift Trail Running Playlist for a positive, upbeat track to help you run happy.

Run happy with the Taylor-Swift trail-running playlist

After listening to Taylor Swift music for weeks, I began to formulate my own Taylor Swift playlist for running and mountain biking.
.
With so many songs, it was tricky to narrow it down.
.
Quickly, I decided to stick with a loose theme and settled on filling the playlist with mostly upbeat, happy songs.
.
No, you won’t find “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” or “Bad Blood” or “Look What You Made Me Do” or any other blatantly angry breakup song on this playlist.
.
😊Rather, most of the songs on the Happy Taylor Swift (Trail) Running Playlist are ones that:

  • Uplift
  • Instill hope
  • Celebrate love
  • Cultivate nostalgia
  • Praise friendship
  • Encourage you to “Shake It Off (Taylor’s Version)”
  • Empower you to get things done despite being down in the dumps (“I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”)

🎶The Happy Taylor Swift (Trail) Running Playlist also contains:

  • Some remixes, because those are fun for running
  • Collaborations (with Ice Spice, Ed Sheeran, etc.)
  • 39 songs
  • Two hours and 26 minutes of music

🏃‍♀️‍➡️I hope the Happy Taylor Swift (Trail) Running Playlist inspires you to:

  • Run farther
  • Love stronger
  • Smile bigger
  • Endure longer
  • Sing out loud as the miles tick by, as it does for me

Eva Caison Your commitment to creating this playlist is amazing! I also appreciate the focus on happy songs. I can't run to angry ones... however the link to the Spotify playlist takes me to an error. Is there another way to access it?

Brynn Cunningham Hi! Try this: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4ujtba8IB7cMHOsftcI7fa?si=8MjkC7fnTfiFy2Sxx9oazQ&pi=u-DwLk-ONLTmyG
