Summary

This shoe can go the distance, but you may want to try a different shoe if your foot is narrow. Ground feel is minimal, so helpful over rocky terrain.

EVO Speedgoat

Pros
  • Plush, but still responsive. Great color.
Cons
  • Some sliding around in the forefoot area.

Hoka One One EVO Speedgoat

I have a wider forefoot, so I chose the EVO over the regular Speedgoat, because I heard the latter had been updated to a more narrow fit. These were purchased for ultras, specifically the 50 mile distance. I think they really saved my feet as my 50 miler was almost all over rock.
First off,
I LOVE the look of these shoes! The pop of that lime green is so fun.
The shoes felt almost too narrow for me right when putting them on, but traversing along the trail felt a bit sloppy, like they loosened up. It helped to have a good thicker sock on. It also helped that the lacing system was very responsive once I tied them tight enough.
I will continue to use them for the trails, but might switch to less cushion for racing.

Experience

This was my first pair of Hoka’s and my second pair of trail shoes. My other pair are much more firm with minimum cushioning.

Mother runner. BQ hopeful. Sort of an ultrarunner, but I’ll let you know after I sign up for a 2nd one.
