Bakline: Ultra 5" Short V2 Review

We'll discuss color choice last, But at least it got your attention!

Bakline products are designed with runners in mind. If you really hate running with a belt, these shorts are the next best alternative.   This is my new marathon short now!

Check out my review on the Harlem half tights as well.

Skip the belt, these shorts can hold a ton of gels!

4 gel pockets, can hold 2 UCAN and 2 Maurten as shown here

Tested with two Maurten gels in the same pocket. No problem. Did not bounce out when I took out one.
Bakline: Ultra 5" Short V2 Review
Fit two UCAN gels, But I did bend over the tear tab for comfort reasons.

The four gel pockets easily hold eight gels.  Even if you put a single gel in you don't have to worry about them falling out.

Phone pocket on the back, is a little weird to get used to, But no different than any other short or running belt that holds the phone.  Zipper is easy to work well running, I put other items in this pocket as well.

Two standard pockets, I was putting in my salt tabs, No issue with anything falling out.

Standard key pocket on the inside, I have a giant Ford key fob, is uncomfortable to drive with it in the pocket but no problem while running which is more important.

I loaded up these shorts on multiplications with eight gels; Two in each gel pocket.  The larger UCAN gel, fit no problem, however I do bend over the top tear tab just so it doesn't rub against me. (Something I would have done for the belt anyways).  As Maurten gels are very popular I grabbed a few to make sure they wouldn't bounce out switch them around during running and had no issues.   If you're a gel every 5K type of person, these have just the right amount of pockets for all your Gel.  I did add a 9th gel and a regular pocket, couldn't feel it while running, and it didn't bounce out.

In my second side pocket I carried a pack of salt tabs, again with no problems.

Carried my phone, emergency baby wipes, In a couple other things in the zippered phone pocket.

All my testing with these shorts were over 10 mile distances.

I prefer a compression short for marathon day, wearing these shorts in combination with my regular compression shorts (No pockets) worked without any issue.

Maybe ultraviolet wasn't the best color choice!

Hyper violet color doesn't match with anything but black!
Bakline: Ultra 5" Short V2 Review
Other than the random CEP socks I'm also testing, It is very hard to match anything with this color.

I would recommend sticking with the regular black shorts, as I purchase these to be summer running shorts.  It is hard to find anything that matches and/or doesn't clash. I did find one tank top from under armor that's the same color range-ish.  Random CEP compression socks also happen to match.

Although I do like the hyper violet pattern, I think I would have been better off buying the hyper violet tank top and black shorts as shown on their website.

Super comfortable, Even with compression shorts underneath.  By themselves quick drawing and non-chaving.
