Summary

Scott's Protein Balls are absolutely delicious, and I love the story behind them. They're easier to eat while running than a traditional bar, and they're easy on the stomach.

Scott's Protein Balls Review

I was sent sample packs of Scott's Protein Balls for review, and as someone who has a lot of trouble fueling with actual food, I'm happy to say that I think I've found a solution. I'm about to run my 19th marathon, and I just suck at eating and running. I can usually do a bite or two, and then I have to stop. However, Scott's Protein Balls are the perfect bite for me while running, and they don't bother my stomach. I tested it out on a 22-mile run this weekend (which is usually rough on my digestion at the best of times, but it was almost 90 degrees out), and they were a complete success.

Of course, none of that matters if you don't like what you're eating. However, I wanted to eat these just 'cause. I tried Brownie Batter, Mint Chocolate Chip (which tastes like a Girl Scout Cookie), Java Peanut Butter, Confetti, and my favorite, Snickerdoodle. They've got tons of protein (which varies by flavor), but also, they don't have gluten, which is something I struggle with anyway. There are no GMOs, or refined sugars, they're plant-based, and they're not super sweet like many gels. Sugar is the first thing to destroy my tummy while running. I also love the story. The founder, Scott, created them for his wife, Lori, when she was recovering from breast cancer. They then started the business.

They do have to be refrigerated (and they ship in a cold pack), but they're working on a shelf-stable version as well. I didn't mind that because ... well, as I said, it was almost 90 degrees. Having these cold was kind of great. I may actually try freezing them. Now I just need to try their Cinnamon Almond Butter flavor. I highly recommend giving them a shot!
