Precision Fuel and Hydration PF 30 Chew Review

I stumbled on these chews by happenstance in August of 2024 when we were in Leadville, CO searching for more sports nutrition products for DJ Fox, who was in the midst of setting the West to East, Collegiate East FKT on the Colorado Trail. We were lucky enough to connect with the folks at the Leadville Racing Series who had a ton of leftover fuel from the bike races. I happened to grab a few PF 30 chews for DJ, and when he didn't end up using them, I kept them!

Fast forward to recently, and I've been biking on our indoor trainer more often. Personally, I prefer eating chews/waffles on bike efforts and easy runs. I stick to gels for workouts and races. I've been really enjoying the PF 30 chews, and I ended up purchasing a bag of 15 from The Feed.

Before getting into the details, here are some of the basics pertaining to the PF30 chews:

  • Energy: 120 Cal per 34g packet
  • Protein: <0.1g per 34g packet
  • Fats: <0.1g per 34g packet
  • Carbohydrates: 30g per 34g packet
  • Fiber: <0.1g per 34g packet
  • Salt: <0.1g per 34g packet

Texture & Flavor

The mint & lemon flavors of the PF30 chew are my personal favorites.

I'm usually a hard sell on anything I have to chew during a run, but the PF30 chews have started to change my mind. They aren't too sweet and the flavors are mild like a sweetened tea. To my surprise, the chews don't have a sugary coating like Skratch Labs Energy Chews, which is super refreshing, as I've found those sugary coatings to be highly unpleasant. While I won't be using these for any hard workouts, the PF30 chew is something I look forward to on long, easy runs or bike rides. The original flavor of the PF30 chew tastes like a light citrus, but I preferred the mint & lemon combination.

Conclusion

The PF30 chews are a great option for runners or cyclists who prefer a chewable fuel option with a high carb to weight ratio. They are also pretty affordable given their high quality and digestibility.
