Recently, we took a little roadtrip across the United States from Durango, CO to upstate NY. I've never spent a winter in New York before and I won't lie...I was a bit worried about the state of my winter apparel. With the Turtlefur Chelonia 150 Fleece Double-Layer Band, I feel a bit more confident about being able to stay warm and comfortable on the ski slopes on on the trails in the Catskills!
A headband is always a staple in my running attire. It not only keeps sweat and hair out of my face, but it also offers protection from sun and wind. This fleece headband from Turtlefur is my go-to for outdoor runs in sub-freezing temps and any cycling session that is in 45 degrees (F) or below. I think my favorite part about this headband is how slim it is considering the warmth it provides! I've been cycling a lot as I return to running after an IT band injury, so the headband has made my fall/winter hours on the bike much more comfortable.
The Material: the Turtlefur Chelonia 150 Fleece Double-Layer Band is made of Double-layer Chelonia 150™ Fleece so it's incredibly warm and soft against the skin. After hours of wearing it beneath a helmet without any irritation of my ears, I'm impressed and I think it deserves the seal of approval for long bouts of wear.
The Fit: My only qualms with the band is the lack of sizing. For a simple product, I realize it might be silly to have a size range, but I did find it a bit tight for the first couple of wears. Although it is stretchy, the material only stretches so far. I have a small head, so I'm curious how those with larger heads will fare with the fit. The band isn't tapered in any way, so you can pull it on and wear it in whichever direction suits you.
Turtlefur generously provided me with the band in exchange for an honest review.
