The weather was slightly warm, but overall a beautiful day. The Event host added some additional parking, which made day of race much easier to manage. The event seems to be growing as the after party was packed.
The course starts at the brewery, goes out and through town, then out to farm land. As you carry on through farmland and the rolling hills (around 440 feet of elevation over the full course) you work your way back around through a nice park area, back through town and then over a bridge into the brewery.
The surfaces are mostly paved farm roads, with some paved trails and gravely roads thrown in.
Shiner has an expedient check in process. Separate lines for each run distance and the volunteers are well organized and helpful.
Get a Shirt, medal for finishing, 4 beers, 2 sausages, some beer can sleeves and a good time for the entry
The course had great support throughout the course. About every 2 miles there was water, electro-lites, gel's and porta potties available.
The atmosphere on course is great. The local peeps come out to support, so do some of the farm animals. The local police do a great job keeping the runners safe and traffic re-routed. The runners are supportive on the course and of course the celebration is top notch.
Shiner has the beers and sausages flowing. They have a good band playing some great tunes. Have a great outdoor area to set up and party in. The brewery opens late morning, so if you run out of those valuable beer tokens, you can go refill in the brewery, check out they gift shop or take a brewer tour.
If you are in the general Houston/Austin/San Antonio area and have time to check out this run, I highly recommend it. While there isn't much to do in town, the after party is a great hangout and the brewery is a nice place to hang. In addition New Braunfels is not too far away and plenty to do there.
This is a great run for being with family and friends and having a great run as well
