Let me just start by saying that I was thoroughly impressed with my first try on! The shoe showed immediate bounce and support—something I EXPECT to feel in a carbon plated shoe!
Right off the bat I immediately noticed that it felt light and fast!
I tested these shoes out on 3 different runs: a 5 mile 6:30 moderate paced run, a Fartlek workout done around 4:40’s mile pace, and a moderate paced long run. Each varying pace felt GREAT in the shoe!
I definitely needed to pull the laces tighter on the second go around because my foot was sliding a bit on my first test run. I also didn’t size up. Stayed true to size and it felt perfect for me.
One thing that does take getting used to is the mesh upper support. The mesh support allows for lighter overall specs on the shoes which make them faster, but it can feel less supportive for your ankles. So if you tend to roll your ankles a bit more, you might want to consider that with this shoe.
I LOVED that the lower support has a wider platform and toe box. Feels a bit wider than your average regular toe box, but still similar to true Saucony fit in my opinion!
Another con is the lack of tread on the underneath of the shoe! I ran one of these workouts in rain/ice and could feel a bit of a slip on sharp turns which was kind of scary when you’re running 4:40 mile/pace !
The shoes also have a padded area around the Achilles/heel area which I can see how it can help prevent blisters and add more support in that area over the miles!
Overall I’m thoroughly impressed and can see myself definitely using this shoe for my next marathon build !
I was gifted a pair of Saucony Elites in return of an honest review after test running them!
