I believe that every runner has to match their running mechanics and natural running tendencies with their shoe. It is also important to consider the training cycle you are in to match your shoe.
For me, right now, I am 50% treadmill running, 25% sidewalk running, and 25% trail running. These shoes work best on the treadmill and the sidewalk. They have nice shock absorption and keeps me driving forward because of the light roll of the foam that encourages your weight to be on the balls of your feet.
I would not take these shoes out on the trail as I would feel too high off the ground, not enough grip to the bottom, and there are too many holes to have rocks get stuck in. I wish the tongue was a bit more flexible, it hasn't bothered me much, but I always enjoy a tongue that is stitched in on one side.
I am not ashamed to admit that I care what the shoe looks like. The On brand does a great job with keeping the design simple and clean looking. This is often what has me coming back for more. I opted for black with a splash of purple and it has kept it's "out of the box" new look for months now.
I give this shoe a high rating because it is perfect for what I use it for. Great for 1/2 marathon and full marathon training. Get a pair to work into your rotation.
