Summary

What makes the Pro-Form good is its connection with iFit.  If this review was just on the Treadmill part, it would get 3 stars, the inclusion of iFit and the fact that you can get a good deal raises it to a 4 stars.

Proform Carbon Treadmill

Like everyone else, when COVID was coming and hit, the gyms were closed but you didn't want to stop working out in the winter.  I picked up this Pro-Form Carbon (There are different size screens you can get, but they are all the same otherwise, as far as I can see) on a no-interest 3-year payment to iFit to get the treadmill free deal through Pro-Form.  At the time of this review, Pro-Form still has this deal for specific models of equipment https://www.proform.com/free-equipment. Since it was during COVID when I ordered this, they didn't offer the option for them to build it.  It wasn't hard to put together, just make sure you follow the directions.  I did miss one step where you put a sleeve on the base and by the time I figured it out, I already had the main tray on and didn't want to take it apart.  It has worked fine without the sleeve, just need to be careful as the grounding wire is exposed (I do get some static electricity shocks once in a while, but not sure if it was due to not having the sleeve on or not.)

When I was at my heaviest, I did get some slippage in the belt and even though I have lost some weight, depending on the speed I feel some slippage.  So if you are a bigger guy like me, please be careful.  Although I have had it to its max incline and at walking speed not have had any issues.

The deck does easily raise up for storage or cleaning.  My kit came with a cleaning kit and I have used it once.  If you take care of it, you should be good to go.  As I have mine in the garage, it does get dirty easily.  This summer project is to create a wall of some sort to hopefully keep dirt out and keep it warmer in winter.  I can not run the treadmill and my wall heater on the same fuse without tripping it.

It is a good basic treadmill, what makes it better is its connection with iFit.  iFit has different programs/videos, courses, programs, and much more.  I have done a few different programs and videos with them.  It is nice when you don't have to worry about the speed/incline of the treadmill as the program does it for you.  As I am currently working on my own program, I can create it on iFit's website https://www.ifit.com/ and run it on the treadmill.  Afterward, I download the tcx file from iFit and upload it to Strava and Train as One (the app I use for my running programs/blocks).  Strava and iFit have an automatic sync option, but I find Strava doesn't count the incline vert this way.  When you upload it into Strava you need to make sure not to mark it as Treadmill or it won't count your vert either.

I highly suggest looking at the Pro-Form if you need a treadmill or live in the midwest or other snowy areas and want to keep working full speed over the winter season.

Experience

I have enjoyed my time using the Pro-Form Carbon Treadmill.  iFit makes it better, it does the job and even has fans to keep you cool during hot days when you just don't want to go out in the sun or rain.  There is no good place to attach a Zwift Runn Smart Sensor, but found it right at the back of the treadmill to be ok.  Just be careful your family doesn't kick it off.  iFit allows you to have multiple users, so my family of 4 all have their own account to keep track of their miles and keep their place in the program they are doing.  Easy to assemble and having the deck fold up, helps for storage and/or cleaning under it.  I usually only use it in the winter, but I am glad I have it always as an option.
