Pros

Absolutely stunning course
Really, really challenging hills
Some of the most wonderful and friendly runners I've ever encountered
A great mix of people from all over the world
Really encouraging supporters along the route
I guarantee you have never seen this many stars
In Tenerife, one of the loveliest places in the world
Wonderful race expo

Cons

You miss a lot of the beauty because it's at night
The downhill is really dicey, and you really need poles
If you're not a frequent ultra runner, you may not have any idea how hard this will be
Very muddy and slippery, particularly on the downhill
Far more hiking and climbing than running
Cut off times are very strict
I wish they'd given us more indication of what the course conditions would be like

Summary

The Tenerife BlueTrail 24K is a brutal race, but a beautiful one. You have to be prepared, though, and I wish I knew more going in. That said, it was the most wonderful experience in a breathtaking place.
