Orca Half Marathon

The Orca Half is a half marathon along the shores of West Seattle, starting at Lincoln Park and finishing at Don Armeni Boat Launch. The course is point to point, with two small out and back sections in the beginning and a longer one towards the end. There will be wave starts for both days. See all of race details on our website here! VIRTUAL RACE INFO - We have 100 spots for virtual runners. Once they sell out there are no more available. You can run the distance all at once or break it up into chunks and run it on the date of your choosing. You will receive a shirt and medal that will be mailed after the in person race. CHARITY BIB INFO- Accomplish more with a charity bib for this event! Engage your friends and family to raise a minimum of $1,000 in support of a nonprofit of your choice and your registration fee is waived. New this year, YOU choose whether the funds you raise go to support one of the WP community partners or an organization that matters to you when you sign up for a charity bib. Please understand that by signing up for a charity bib, you are making a serious commitment to raise the amount you agreed to. If you are not able to meet the minimum fundraising amount by the week of the race, you will be required to pay the difference. All donations are final.

Pros
  • The time of year showcases cooler temperatures
  • Lots of room on trails to share with the local people
  • The terrain is on gravel, trails, pavement and concrete
  • Pacers are on on the path
  • The signage is easy to read
  • Aid stations are spaced approximately every 2 miles
  • Emails provide guidlines and map links
  • Free gear check at the start line
  • Orca Half is a wave start
  • Free professional photos and ready 3 to 4 days after the race
  • Cupless racing; and, you can pick up a re-useable cup at the bib check-in tent
Cons
  • There is different surfaces to consider and can be a tripping hazard
  • It did take time to use the shuttle services and arrive to the start line - arrive early if possible

Summary

If you are looking for new terrain, a comfortable and scenic environment, and an opportunity to make a difference in your personal gains - this race is for you! The September temperatures are perfect!
