The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition presents the 12th annual Towpath Freedom 5K on Saturday, November 11th at Summit Lake in Akron. Join us as we honor our U.S. Veterans! ​This family-friendly event includes a timed 5K walk/run, long-sleeve moisture wicking shirt and awards for the top finishers. Walkers and pets are welcome! All proceeds benefit the continued development, activation, and enhancement of the Ohio & Erie Canalway, Towpath Trail, and connector trails. We are offering FREE REGISTRATION for the first 35 veterans who register!

I really enjoyed this race! Scenic beautiful course on the new trails around Summit Lake. The race offers great swag, it is well organized, had lots of awesome snacks at the finish, and most importantly was a great way to honor veterans.

David Moore That’s the first I’ve heard of the trails around Summit Lake. I’m going to check them out. Awesome race time, congratulations on the 2nd place age group Scott!

Scott O David I think moving the race to Summit Lake was an effort to bring awareness to the new trails. The trails are paved and go 1/2 - 3/4 ways around the lake. I was impressed by the trails. I am not sure why they don't make a complete loop around the lake but I am sure there is a reason.
