Summary

This marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. It has great race swag, a bus to the start line, pasta dinner offered the night before the race and well marked course.

Guthrie Wineglass Marathon Review

I ran the 45th annual Wineglass Marathon—a beautiful point‑to‑point race that starts in Bath, NY and finishes on historic Market Street in Corning. It was my first time doing this marathon and in the Finger Lakes region, and I’m glad I made the trip. I stayed in an Airbnb in Watkins Glen, a small historic village with a famous race track, a stunning state park, Seneca Lake, and plenty of great restaurants and shops.

Packet pickup was held at the Corning Museum of Glass, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary. If you purchased the pasta dinner during registration, you were treated to a great meal and two excellent speakers—Bart Yasso, who later served as the finish‑line emcee, and Olympian, author, and filmmaker Alexi Pappas.

Race morning was smooth and well‑organized. Marathon runners boarded buses in Corning to reach their respective start lines. Parking was easy, and the 30‑minute ride to Bath went quickly. At the start, runners could stay warm inside two large tents, and there were plenty of porta potties and open space to stretch or relax.

The race started on time, and the 26.2‑mile route took us through Savona, Campbell, Coopers Plains, and Painted Post. The course has a few gentle rollers but is a net downhill and a certified Boston Qualifier. While spectator support was light, the field was big—over 2,300 marathoners—so I never felt alone. On‑course nutrition included Huma gels, Tailwind/Huma hydration, and water.

A beautiful course, great organization, and a memorable weekend in the Finger Lakes.
