Summary

This shoe is very comfortable, and is a solid option for easy recovery and long runs, but isn’t responsive enough and is probably too heavy for most hard efforts.

Heel pull tab

This is probably the most comfortable upper I’ve ever worn. The tongue is really stretchy, and feels really good on foot. The laces are decent, but nothing too special. I will say the toebox does taper a decent bit, but I wouldn’t say it’s too narrow. It has a heel tab which is always nice. It’s also decently breathable but not super breathable.

Midsole: 7/10

Large midsole flare helps with stability

This is a big midsole, and it definitely does make the Magmax pretty heavy. It’s decently responsive, but I wouldn’t use it for anything faster than a daily run because of the weight. It’s firmer than I expected, I thought it would feel more plush like a nb 1080, but I don’t mind it being a little firmer, especially because it does make this shoe more stable. The midsole also has a really big flare which definitely increases stability as well. The shock absorption is great and this shoe feels awesome for easy long runs, but again I wouldn’t want to do a progression or threshold work in these.

Outsole: 8/10

The outsole is solid, the grip is great and I haven’t seen much wear at 75 miles, I can give an update on durability after I put more miles on this. There is a decent bit of exposed foam though.

Overall: 24/30

This shoe is a good, very comfortable option for people looking for a recovery/daily or long run shoe, but it’s not very versatile for anything faster than that because of the weight
