Summary

This was the most historic relay race to date. We ran over the Pettus Bridge(Selma to Montgomery) where civil rights leaders travelled over to ensure our freedom. This 51-mile relay with my sorority sisters was life-changing plus we won 1st place!

Selma to Montgomery Relay Race Review

The race was held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in Selma, Alabama. It was a road race and cycle event. The race directors did a great job with the packet pick up station and pasta dinner catered by Olive Garden. The race felt like a homecoming because I got to see many run cousins.

The race was supposed to start early at 6am in the dark but it started an hour later but that was okay because the sun was out and  we did not have to start running or biking at in the dark with headlamps!

Our team finished in 8 hours and 17 minutes with an average pace of 9:45 per mile which was good because there are hills in Alabama. We could not believe that we won first place.

The whole weekend was simply amazing. I highly recommend the race and visiting Selma and Montgomery Alabama. There is a ton of American  history for us to learn!
