How to Write a Stellar Review

Here at WeeViews, there are two types of reviews to choose from: our hallmark “WeeView” or a Full Review. Each kind of review has their own place on the WeeViews platform.

WeeViews are short and to-the-point, focused on the very best (or worst) aspects of your experience, with a single photo.

Full Reviews give you room to share even more details that you think other runners should know. They also support multiple photos to show off different perspectives or moments from your experience.

The Guidelines

We want your real opinion. WeeViews is all about unbiased and unfiltered reviews. If you have an affiliation with a brand, that’s great – just don’t gloss over any imperfections to make them happy. In the end, all brands want to improve so that they can offer the best possible product for their customers. Respectful, constructive criticism helps brands on that mission. Plus, your honest thoughts will help other runners make the most informed decisions they can.

Honesty only causes problems when it’s not paired with respect. Make sure to word your reviews so that readers get the picture clearly without simply badmouthing a brand, product, or race.

This isn’t the time to be modest! Mention any related skills and accomplishments in running so that readers understand your background. This helps them relate to you so that they can determine how well your opinion will help them with their own choices. And if you’re brand new to running or going in a different direction, mention that too so that other newbies can connect with you.

You don’t have to put the item through the wringer or cross the finish line before reviewing. If you’re itching to review those brand new kicks straight out of the box because they’re just soooo pretty, then we’re excited to see them. If you change your mind after putting in some miles, stop back later and share an update.

We want to see that you actually thought about what you wrote. Even if you’re just writing a short WeeView, go further than just “I liked these shoes” or “this race was fun”. We’ll tell you right now: that won’t earn you any points toward Rising Star status! Give us the what + why + how.

No, we’re not all professional photographers, but even phones take pretty high-quality shots these days. Take photos yourself, and avoid stock photos from websites. This review is based on your personal experience, so the photo(s) you include should represent your own perspective as well. Bonus points if you catch the item or race in action.

Tips for Writing a
Great WeeView

Every runner is different, so we want to know what works (and doesn’t work) for you. Crafting authentic and unbiased reviews means tapping into our individuality.

You get one photo, so make sure it’s a great one. If reviewing gear, show the reader what the item looks like in use or stage a photo from a cool view. For events, snag your best start/finish line photo, or even an action shot that best illustrates how you felt about the race.

Tips for Writing a
Great Full Review

Include several pros and at least one or two cons, because no product or race is perfect. Use the review space below to explain the pros and cons that you list.

You have the room, so be sure to put some context around your opinions. Include details like size, shape, terrain, frequency and intensity of use, reasoning, and more.

Show multiple angles and aspects with your imagery. Photos that show all sides of the item or different moments from the race help readers visualize your thoughts.

If you have an ambassadorship or sponsorship from a brand, please check the “incentivized review” box to maintain honesty.
