The Scio Scramble is one of the oldest road races in the Ohio Valley dating back to the early 80s. The annual 5k road race serves as the kickoff to the long running Scio Street Fair now known as the Scio Summer Fest on August 21st 2025 with the kids 1 mile fun run starting at 6:15 pm, Family fun run/walk at 6:15 pm, and the 5k following at 7:00 pm. It's an out and back course on city streets and our local rails to trails running path. This year marks the third year with the new race course. It will begin beside the lot next to the firehouse where registration takes place and ends below the Scio Branch Library. The course is a paved flat course looping around a neighborhood before going onto the scenic paved trail. While on the trail you will see local foliage and even cross a covered bridge. Every runner/walker receive a t-shirt and goody bag.
