Long has been running since childhood. 
.
He recalls running on dirt roads close to home with his friends and through pine forests whenever his family took a trip up to the mountains.

• “I think runners are adults that refuse to stop playing and that's my approach with running," says Long.
• "I run to play, to explore, to connect with nature and other runners."

Not realizing that running races were an option, Long didn’t toe the line to a race until he was in his 20s. After that, he has done his fair share of everything from 5Ks to 100-mile races! 

Amidst the first generation of GoPro, Long found a passion for documenting beautiful and fun moments while running. 

• This led him to open his first media company, Fresh Tracks Media, that sought to capture the spirit of races in the Midwest.
• Now, Long still captures pictures and videos for fun. He shares some, but keeps most for himself.

If you take a look at his Instagram page, you’ll find that Long often runs stunning mountain trails with his pup, Bear.

When asked if he has any tips for runners who also want to train their four-legged friends to be trail runners, Long has this to say:

• "My one tip is to train your pups like how you would train yourself," Long said.
• "Start slow with short runs and build from there. Their love for the trails are always there and the longer adventures will come with time."

Long isn’t just a runner...

• He’s a horse-lover too! His ultimate 100-mile race would actually be on the back of a horse—the Tevis Cup, which follows the Western States Trail, yes THAT Western States Trail!
