Simply the best, most complete web site about Houston and Southeast Texas. At first it just looks like a collection of pictures, but click on its "forum" section and you'll find the answers to just about any question you might have about the city. All you have to do is ask and there will be someone with an answer. It's an even bigger forum than the ones run by the Chronicle or the local TV stations. Many people think it's the largest discussion forum in Houston, or even Texas, but that's hard to substantiate.
Hard to navigate, but a treasure trove of information and pictures. Once you figure out how to get around, you could get lost on this site for hours. In a good way.
The site is good, but the company has two problems. 1 - the quality of the flowers isn't very good and often you will receive freeze-damaged flowers because they were mailed to you from some central hub on the other side of the country instead of freshly delivered from a local florist. 2 - Once you get on their e-mail list you simply cannot get off. No amount of opting out or clicking or even phone calls will ever get them to really take you off the list. Once you order, you're stuck in a relationship with 1800Flowers for the rest of your life.
OK for cursory information, but hardly authoritative. Many of its facts and statistics are wrong. This is probably because Emporis' figures and photos are compiled by unpaid volunteers instead of professionals in the field. The only reason this web site ranks high in search engines is because it snagged the skyscrapers.com domain, not because of its content.
